Necklift In Women
The term necklift comprises a few techniques — cervicoplasty, platysmaplasty, liposuction — one or more of which may be used to improve the appearance of a woman’s neck, depending on her unique circumstances. The procedure aims to give the neck a tauter, more youthful appearance.
Cervicoplasty tightens loose skin and muscles. An incision is made under the chin, extending behind the ears, and the skin is pulled back and sutured.
Platysmaplasty tightens the platysma muscles in the neck. An incision is made under the chin and a small portion of muscle may be removed.
Liposuction can be used as a neck lift technique to remove excess fat from the chin, neck and surrounding areas. Both men and women can benefit from this technique. However, because women’s skin is generally more “elastic” than men’s, women are more likely than men to benefit from liposuction. (The lack of elasticity in men’s skin affects its ability to retract after fat removal.) However, liposuction of the neck does not work if there is pre-existing loose skin. Separately, if the skin has become too stretched, another form of neck lift may be necessary.
