Neck Lift Candidates
In addition to a face lift, which is usually designed to help rejuvenating patients appearance, the neck lift procedure is often deemed as necessary for females and males who are over 50 and want to restore a youthful look to the face and neck area. This can be done by combining a facelift & necklift procedure, partial facelift & necklift or only necklift (mostly for male patients).
Nowadays, necklift procedure can be performed in people of various ages from young adults (who are over than 18) until 80 year old men and women. There is no such thing as an "ideal age" for it due to the different genetic backgrounds, skin types, elasticity and individual lifestyles. According to an NYC top facial plastic surgeon and Dr. Sam Rizk, "New York is a city with most diverse ethnicities and lifestyles. For example, in my practice I see not only female patients who seek a necklift combined with other facial plastic surgeries, but also many male patients who are interested in improving a similar area of concern. Both groups are often advised to have a partial facelift and necklift or a nose job and a necklift and carry them out as one surgical operation".
These are common concerns of patients and candidates to surgery who are unhappy with certain aspects of their appearance. If you are find yourself having one or more of the following factors, you are a potential candidate for a neck lift procedure:
- Having a neck that contains hanging skin and looks like a "turkey waddle" (this appearance can be corrected with a Platysmaplasty surgery).
- Excess hanging skin and sagging looking neck where the skin has lost its elasticity, usually due to aging and/or weight loss (the best procedure to perform in this situation is Cervicoplasty).
- A double chin, caused by excess fat in the neck area (a neck liposuction is a suitable solution for this issue).
However, the best surgical or non-surgical treatment for a given skin condition can be found during an individual consultation with your plastic surgeon. During the consultation, you will explain what is your goal and expectations. The doctor can judge whether they are realistic and see if you are a good candidate for one/more procedures that will allow you to achieve some or all of the desired changes.
A good necklift candidate should be in a stable state of health, both physically and mentally, for a few months. Most important of all, please make sure that you researched and obtained enough information to make an educated choice of a plastic surgeon - for example, his/her reputation, level of experience with this procedure, special technique used, quality of staff and surgical facilities.
